Where being wrong is expensive

Most software can afford a bad edge case. Health software cannot, because the person on the other side of the screen is making a decision about their own body with whatever you put in front of them.

Patient-facing tools and clinical workflows.

What health software demands

Three parties, one record.

A patient, the clinician treating them and the system recording it all need the same facts, and they each need them shaped differently. Almost every difficulty in this vertical traces back to that.

01

The hand-off is the risk

Very little goes wrong inside a single screen. It goes wrong when information moves - patient to clinician, clinician to system, system back to patient - and those seams are where the design effort belongs.

02

Access is a feature

Low bandwidth, older devices, shared phones and interrupted sessions are the normal conditions, not the edge. A tool that assumes a good connection excludes the people who need it most.

03

Trust is earned in the details

Clear language, honest states and never pretending to more certainty than the data supports. Someone deciding whether to seek care reads tone as much as content.

How the pieces fit

Three lanes, one patient.

Patient, clinician and system as parallel lanes, with the hand-offs crossing between them. It loops rather than funnels, because care is not a conversion path.

  1. Three lanes

One patient, seen three different ways.

    • Patient
    • Clinician
    • System
  2. Five hand-offs

Care crosses between the lanes 5 times, and every one of them is where trust is won or lost.

  3. Not a funnel

It comes back round. The hard problem is the crossings, not any one lane.

Patient, clinician and system as three swim lanes, with care handing off between them at five points and returning rather than converting.

How we help here

The parts of health we build.

Patient-facing tools need design and platform work in equal measure, and the data layer underneath usually decides whether the rest is possible.

The work

Three health engagements, three different rooms.

A wellness programme made personal inside one of the country's largest member ecosystems. An AI health insights platform taken from concept to live product. And the tooling behind frontline teams delivering care in underserved settings, off paper and onto something that works where they work.

Discovery Vitality

A wellness programme, made personal

Bringing an existing health and wellness product to Vitality members as a tailored, motivating daily experience - meal plans, weight-loss tracking and support inside the wider Vitality ecosystem.
