Trust is the conversion mechanism
Health is the one category where a persuasive experience and an honest one have to be the same thing. Overclaim once and you do not lose a click, you lose the person, because they were already deciding whether to believe you.
Member and patient experiences people come back to.
What health marketing demands
Persuasive, and still true.
Wellness and member programmes live or die on repeat engagement, and the usual growth levers work against that. Urgency reads as pressure, personalisation reads as surveillance, and a metric that goes up for a fortnight is often a person who has been nudged into something they will resent.
Motivation beats acquisition
Signing somebody up to a health programme is the cheap half. Whether they open it again in week six is the number that matters, and it is decided by whether the thing felt like it was built for them or built to be reported on.
Personal without being invasive
Health data makes an experience genuinely better and makes people genuinely uneasy, often in the same interaction. The line is not legal, it is felt, and it moves depending on what you are asking somebody to look at.
Tone is read as evidence
Clear language, honest states, and never claiming more certainty than the data supports. Somebody deciding whether to act on what you have shown them is reading the register as closely as the content, and hedging and overclaiming both cost.
How the pieces fit
Three lanes, one patient.
Patient, clinician and system as parallel lanes, with the hand-offs crossing between them. It loops rather than funnels, because care is not a conversion path - and a member journey designed as one will keep measuring the wrong thing convincingly.
Three lanes
One patient, seen three different ways.
- Patient
- Clinician
- System
Five hand-offs
Care crosses between the lanes 5 times, and every one of them is where trust is won or lost.
Not a funnel
It comes back round. The hard problem is the crossings, not any one lane.

If engagement is the problem and the honest version has to stay honest, that is the constraint we would want to work inside.
