Compliance is not the brake

Asset managers and insurers do not have one product, they have an estate - and every part of it has to clear the same controls. The platform work is mostly about making that true without making it slow.

Investment platforms, onboarding and secure client journeys.

What financial platforms demand

Regulated does not have to mean sluggish.

The firms that encode their controls once move faster afterwards, because approval stops being a fresh negotiation every single time. The ones that keep them in a process document pay the cost on every release, forever, and mistake it for the cost of being regulated.

01

Controls in the platform, not the process

Permissions, audit trails and disclosure rules belong in the system where they are enforced consistently, rather than in a checklist somebody has to remember. Encoded once, they stop being a per-release argument and start being a test that either passes or does not.

02

One truth, many audiences

An adviser, a client and a regulator need different views of the same holdings. Building three systems guarantees they will disagree; building one with three faces is harder up front and correct thereafter.

03

The legacy core is not going anywhere

The book of record predates everything and will outlive the rewrite somebody keeps proposing. Modernisation here means building beside it - new slices in front, a clean contract between, and the old core retiring quietly rather than being switched off on a weekend.

How the pieces fit

One estate, many licences.

Every product sits on the same platform, and every one of them clears the same controls underneath it. Those controls are what decide whether the estate can change safely, which is why they belong in the system rather than in somebody's checklist.

  1. One platform

A single platform, not a portfolio of unrelated builds.

  2. Many products

Each one drops off that platform with its own licence and its own audience.

    • Onboard
    • Invest
    • Report
    • Service
  3. The controls underneath

Compliance, audit and permissions - every product, every time. Encoded in the platform once, they stop being a per-release negotiation.

One platform line with product cards dropping off it, and a dashed line underneath representing the controls that every product must clear.

How we help here

The parts of this we build.

Platform work with a regulated boundary around it: the systems that hold the record, the product thinking that decides what to build beside the core, and the data engineering that lets three audiences read the same holdings without three versions of the truth.

The work

Three platforms, three different constraints.

A group-wide platform strategy, built on our own valuation model, that decided what a fragmented estate should become before anyone wrote code. A legacy adviser portal that answered most questions with a PDF, replaced with model portfolios, interactive charting and client-ready review packs. And an asset manager's three parallel workstreams, from an adviser-matching tool through to the reporting layer that finally tells one story.

Regulated, and tired of waiting.

If your controls are the reason nothing ships, there is usually a way to encode them and get the speed back.
